This food truck specializes in Amami Oshima-style cooking, serving chicken rice (keihan) in broth. Every week during lunchtime, the owner, Mr. KIIRE who is from Amami-Oshima, and his wife go around to different parts of Tokyo or Kanagawa, and on weekends they set up shop at an event space. All of their chicken and thinly sliced omelet eggs (kinshi eggs) are sourced domestically. The dish shines with that delicate and elegant touch that comes from Japanese cooking. The subtlety of the warm chicken broth far surpasses what you might expect from catered food. A rare item is the boiled eel rice bowl in bonito or kelp broth, hitsumabushi-style.

Ever since the company’s founding in 1951, their famous signature item has been their salad bread, an unusual pairing of a hot dog bun filled with pickled radish. The director of last year’s wildly popular movie “Don’t Stop Rolling!”, Shinichiro UEDA, hails from Kinomoto, which resulted in a culinary collaboration: “Stop the Salad Bread Rolling!” There are lots of other fun and unique bread items such as their sandwiches and “smile buns”.
